The leasing office here is supposed to give a 24-hour notice before entering for any reason. They're particularly fond of waiting until 3 or 4pm to let me know they're coming by at 9am the next day for routine extermination services. This requires that I clear my counters, move the fridge away from the wall, and pick everything up off the floor. It doesn't require, but I prefer, mopping right before they spray so that the spray has maximum time to work before I mop again. It's extremely disrupting, especially on short notice, is all I'm saying. They gave me one of these notices late yesterday afternoon.
After the bug man left today, I did get a chance to swing by the post office to send those CDs to my friend, Z. I also checked my mail and had the corrected copy of that birth certificate. The Register of Deeds actually sent two certified copies, I think by way of apology for the misspelling on my first copy. I also hit the grocery store for essentials (milk, bread, sour cream, beef). I got to visit with my sister for a little bit this afternoon, since she was able to swing by the library to pick up kids this afternoon on her way home from work.
I was particularly thankful, considering the fact that even though I just had my car's A/C repaired less than 30 days ago, it has gone out again. That's another thing I did today: called to express my frustration to my mechanic. I have to take the car back to him Friday. Let me tell you: driving around in this heat and humidity with the windows UP because it's raining is NOT mood-improving.
My most productive accomplishments in the last 24 hours have been downsizing my kitchen utensils and making another donation run. I got rid of the least-favorite measuring cups/spoons, purged all the non-matching silverware, etc.
Keeping.
Tossing.
And here are the things that left my house:
Movies.
CDs.
PC games, toys, wheel covers that never fit, books, and costumes.
On my way back from dropping off donations, I hit RedBox for a movie with a promo code. We're going to have stir-fry tonight (please let me finish this rice before we move!) and watch 'Oz, The Great and Powerful'...
